The University of Washington's Housing & Food Services (HFS) is looking for a General Manager for the Husky Union Building's (HUB) Husky Den! With $7.5 million in annual sales, 80 team members, three franchises and six self-operated food venues, we are looking for the full package: finance acumen, operational experience and demonstrable value on staff development and retention. The top candidate must be able to build strong professional relationships with all levels of staff within Housing & Food Services, campus and building partners, and of course our reason to be here, UW's students.

We are looking for a leader who fits our culture of professionalism, positivity and customer service and can model this culture to a large staff comprised of students, entry-level food service staff and life-long culinary professionals.
Develop the Husky Den (including Pagliacci, Starbucks and ETC at the Hub) business plan and budget in collaboration with Food Services leadership.
Represent HFS in meetings with HUB building officials regarding food services.
Direct staff on unit operation policies and procedures.
Monitor and review reports, including financial statements, production records, staffing schedules and inquiries from the HFS Financial team.
Establish and maintain proper controls over resources, including cash, inventory and labor.
Manage the inventory from ordering to utilization, including purchasing, receipt, storage, payment processing, distribution, production, display and sale.
Collaboratively develop and implement new concepts and products that align with customer needs, as well as the promotion of campus and HFS activities and events.
Embrace and manage technology to improve flow through in the operation.
Develop menus and standardize recipes in collaboration with the campus Executive chef and the Retail Dining Administrator.
Collaborate with HFS's Marketing team to identify and utilize multiple venues for soliciting customer feedback and respond to complaints, questions and special requests.
Monitor compliance with marketing standards and promotions, and take corrective action.
Maintain visibility and accessibility with customers, building managers and staff members.
Work with students and student groups in planning special events in the HUB and their use of the kitchen space.
Train and monitor performance in unit safety, cash handling, customer service and food safety.
Bachelor's degree in hospitality or related field.
Minimum of three to four years of management experience in the food service industry, including at least three years managing within a large, multi-unit food service operation.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Desired: Experience working with a bargaining unit workforce.
While most of the retail units operate during the MondayFriday day shift, this position is sometimes required to be present and visible during special University and HFS events that may occur outside of normal operating hours.
The salary range for this position is $4,660 to $6,980/month + full benefits, dependent upon education and previous experience.
