The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for three full-time Lecturers on 8- or 12-month bases for authentic research Foundations of Biology Labs with anticipated start dates of 27 August 2018. These positions are outside of the tenure stream and subject to annual review. Applicants must have an MS or PhD in biology. The positions are for Foundations of Biology Laboratory Course Developers who will work as a team to improve existing, and develop new, authentic research laboratory courses. Duties include teaching 1-2 sections per term, curriculum development, course assessment, instructor hiring and training, and administrative oversight (makeup lab scheduling, disability accommodations, grade monitoring, lab accident reporting, student/instructor grievances). One position may be as Program Leader with responsibilities including coordinating the course developers, planning each term's offerings, and working to integrate the Foundations of Biology lab curriculum vertically with upper division labs.
