Northern Illinois University is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 12 month position with benefits. This position is responsible for assisting in the management and administration of all phases of the athletic training operations. Associate Athletic Trainer assumes program oversight in the absence of head Athletic Trainer.

Provide athletic training services to sport(s) as assigned, currently football. Services include prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and coverage of practices/contests as deemed necessary and assigned by the head athletic trainer. Maintain complete medical records for assigned team(s), including insurance referrals, daily treatments, physician referrals, and injury reports in conformity with the Athletic Training Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain positive relationships with team physicians and medical specialists. • Provide direct supervision of student athletic training staff and leadership to employees, particularly graduate assistant employees within the athletic training unit. • Work in cooperation with athletic department staff to access available resources concerning the following areas of athletic care: safe and protective athletic equipment and facilities, nutrition, recognition and education of substance abuse, personal and mental hygiene, first aid and CPR. • Maintain working knowledge of advances in the field as well as current membership in the National Athletic Trainers Association, Inc. and the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association, Inc. • Share in morning training room hours for student-athletes’ rehabilitation of injuries. • Promote public relations beneficial to the university, the athletic department and the profession.

Bachelor’s Degree required. N.A.T.A. Certification Require d. Eligible to meet Illinois Athletic T rainer Registration requirements. Demonstrated successful athletic training experience in school or clinic setting. Minimum of four academic years work experience as certified athletic trainer. Ability to communicate with and relate well to student-athletes, coaching and department staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to use relevant computer software. Working knowledge of and adherence to applicable NCAA rules and regulations.
