The MCW School of Pharmacy offers two academic research fellowships with training in primary care research and cardiovascular disease. The intent of the primary care fellowship is to prepare future leaders in academic primary care, with a vision to improve access to high quality primary health care, reduce health disparities and improve the health of our citizens and communities. Fellows will gain experience emphasizing: research in primary care, educational design and teaching, community engagement, academic leadership and clinical excellence. Fellows will become proficient in the conduct of translational research. A nationally recognized faculty development program provides educational training to complement research experience.
Over 1,640 full-time and part-time faculty of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) play a pivotal role in upholding the missions of MCW: education, research, patient care and community engagement. Education: MCW has over 800 students in Medical School, nearly 400 graduate students, and 160 postdoctoral fellows in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. There are more than 670 physicians in ...residency training and 180 physicians in fellowship training. Approximately 250 Continuing Medical Education-accredited activities are offered annually for physician and other health professionals. Research: MCW is the largest research institution in Eastern Wisconsin and received $154 million in grant awards for research, teaching, training and related purposes in FY 2013-2014 of which $138 million was for research, including funding from the National Institutes of Health and other sponsors. Patient Care: Approximately 1,510 physicians, 600 nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care practitioners care for more than 500,000 patients of all ages annually at Children’s hospital of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Zablocki VA Medical Center and many other hospitals and clinics in Eastern Wisconsin.
