The Department of Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM) at Central Washington University, in Ellensburg, Washington, invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the area of Data and Analytics, including data mining using Excel, SAS, R, and Python; interpretation and translation of data into information; Tableau to create data visualizations and dashboards; practical applications of data analytics to real-world problems.
The department serves students in administrative management; network management; web and database management; project management; retail technology and management; data analytics; and cyber security. The teacher-scholar model is paramount; therefore, teaching, research and service in all areas is expected of department faculty. The department provides instruction to students in multiple locations.
The ideal candidate is an individual who enjoys working in a department that values teaching excellence, student learning, scholarship, and service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
Responsibilities: Teach a variety of data and analytics and related courses to undergraduate and graduate students. Members of the faculty are expected to advise students and to publish peer-reviewed research.
PhD, EdD, or related terminal degree. ABD considered; however, the terminal degree must be completed no later than September 16, 2019
Evidence of effective and student-focused in-class and/or online post-secondary teaching in data and analytics, or related disciplines
Three or more years of practical experience in data and analytics application
Experience in teaching graduate courses in data and analytics, information technology management, or related disciplines
Demonstrated service to students or the IT management profession
Ability to work collaboratively with University faculty, students, and staff
Strong written and verbal communication skills
