We are currently recruiting for a Diabetes Program Manager. The Diabetes Program Manager will work collaboratively with a nationally-acclaimed diabetologist/endocrinologist and Diabetes Medical Director from East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, pharmacy department and nursing to lead diabetes care initiates for Vidant Medical Center and Vidant Health System.
An engaged Diabetes Best Practice Steering Committee directs and supports the hospital’s Diabetes Program in the provision of state-of-the-art care to patients with diabetes—about 1/3 of the hospital’s population—using a system approach including insulin order sets, computerized IV insulin delivery, and an Interdisciplinary Diabetes Care model for diabetes patient education. The Diabetes Program Manager serves a critical role as liaison with the Brody School of Medicine, over 600 house staff, hospitalists, nursing, pharmacy, and nutrition and the hospital’s expert on all diabetes issues. Responsibilities include overseeing and providing diabetes patient education, tracking outcome data, initiating and directing multidisciplinary quality improvement projects, educating new providers, residents, nurses and pharmacists, and overseeing the computerized IV insulin program. Opportunities exist for creative interdisciplinary projects, research, and publications.

The Diabetes Program Manager must have advanced clinical expertise, public speaking/teaching experience, and excellent communication and leadership skills.
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree and NC Pharmacy license or eligible for licensure. Post graduate specialty training in internal medicine, ambulatory care, or pharmacotherapy is preferred. More than 3 years related work experience is required, post graduate specialty training may substitute for years of experience. Must have within 2 years of hire, certification as Certified Diabetes Educator (NCBDE) or Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (AADE).
