Tenure Track-Assistant Professor, Strategy and Business Economics, School of Hotel Administration
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure track faculty position in Strategy and Business Economics at the assistant professor level, beginning July 2018. The position is in the School of Hotel Administration and is a part of a broader search for SBE faculty within the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate is expected to: (i) establish a distinguished program of SBE research, (ii) engage in teaching and advising in the undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. levels, as well as (iii) provide service to the School, College and the University. The successful candidate is expected to develop a highly impactful program of research relevant to broad societal, economic and business issues, and to communicate results to academic peers through publications in top field and general management and/or economics journals, as well as industry professionals through outlets that specifically target the hospitality industry. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research builds on a solid theoretical foundation and utilizes rigorous empirical methods, and who wish to apply their expertise to advance our understanding about service-intensive business settings. We welcome individuals with specializations in a wide array of fields, including innovation, entrepreneurship, international, environmental, and organizational strategy.
OPPORTUNITIES: The School of Hotel Administration is one of the three schools under the newly established SC Johnson College of Business. Founded in 1922, it is the oldest and most respected hospitality management program in the world. The school enrolls approximately 900 undergraduate and about 60 graduate students with a resident faculty of approximately 70 and over 10,000 alumni worldwide. The teaching facilities are exceptional, and opportunities for industry involvement and professional growth are outstanding.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in applied economics, business, economics, or a related discipline is required. Preferred candidates will demonstrate strong potential for high standards of accomplishment in strategy and business economics research, teaching, and service.
