Unity College is accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructor in EDUCATION for our Spring 2018 Semester to teach the following courses:
ED 3333 Education for Exceptional Children and Youth: This course provides in-depth examination of both traditional and emerging perspectives in special education. The course content includes characteristics of the exceptional student. Additional topics include learning theories and styles as they relate to exceptional children, classroom and instructional management, classroom modification/accommodation, overview of state and federal laws, and family and support services. The course format is a combination of lecture, guest speakers, group activities, and field experiences. Each student will complete 10 hours of field experience in a setting where exceptional children are learning.
ED 3342 Exceptional and Universal Programs: This course is designed to acquaint students with the skills needed to work with people who have developmental disabilities. Students apply knowledge from ED 3333-Education for Exceptional Children and Youth to the adventure and experiential education field. Students will hone their programmatic understanding as it relates to working with specific populations by designing and implementing small scale programs with regional participants and/or agencies. Two separate weekends may be scheduled to allow for distinct program application with agencies.
The ideal candidate must possess competence in the profession or discipline with the ability to effectively communicate training and subject matter to others. Instructors will hold the minimum credentials appropriate to the discipline, such as professional certifications or appropriate academic degrees. Master's degree and/or Ph.D. preferred. Depending on experience, availability, and interest multiple courses and/or sections may be offered to a single qualified instructor.
This position begins on January 11, 2019 and ends on May 16, 2018.
The college reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel or reassign any course. Courses that do not achieve minimum student enrollment may be offered for reduced compensation.
