The Georgia Independent College Association (GICA) seeks a qualified candidate for the Compliance Program Director position. The Compliance Program Director reports to the Vice President for Member Services and provides leadership, education, and consultation to a subset of GICA’s member colleges and universities participating in the GICA Compliance Collaborative Program. While the current focus of compliance is on ADA-, Title IX-, VAWA, and Clery-related issues, the Compliance Program Director will assist in identifying future areas of emphasis.
-Oversee and provide education and training on compliance areas (currently ADA, Title IX, VAWA, and Clery to member institutions and their respective faculty and staff members -Monitor and stay abreast of ADA-, Title IX-, VAWA, and Clery-related legislation, regulation, rule-making, and related cases -Disseminate information about ADA-, Title IX-, VAWA, and Clery-related issues to member participants -Provide limited consultation services (not legal advice) related to ADA, Title IX, VAWA, and Clery to GICA Compliance Collaborative participants and, when appropriate, refer member institutions to attorneys for legal counsel -Direct the planning, development, implementation and administration of the GICA Compliance Collaborative -Write compliance-related grants to support projects and defray costs of initiative -Propose and implement compliance-related grant projects -Ensure deliverables are met for any compliance-related grants received -Consult with GICA staff members as requested on compliance-related topics as needed Work with appropriate state and national associations and agencies on compliance-related projects -Local, state, and national travel required -Stay abreast of other pressing compliance-related issues that impact private higher education
-Master’s degree, JD, or other advanced degree -In-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment for a private educational institution or comparable professional experience -Knowledge of ADA, Title IX, VAWA, and Clery policy requirements, procedures and issues in a university environment -Presentation and training experience, including development of training materials -Excellent organizational skills and administrative acumen necessary -Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Work Environment/Physical Demands: Normal office environment, typically sitting at desk, use of office equipment, walking or standing. Ability to lift approximately 40 pounds and carry for up to 20 feet required. Travel away from the office the need for occasional overnight travel is required. Driving a reliable vehicle is required. Ability to access stored documents and office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds requiring use of step ladder up to three feet long required.
