This leader will have an informed vision of the skills, expertise and knowledge needed by the osteopathic physician of the future as developed during residency training. The Assistant Dean for GME will have good interpersonal skills to successfully work with a variety of professionals in this process. While the responsibility is primarily for graduate medical education development, he or she will participate with the COM leadership in overall achievement of the COMs mission and vision.

•Assist affiliated hospitals to develop additional regional GME programs in alignment with the COM’s mission •Provide affiliated residency program resources in achievement of Osteopathic Recognition •Collaborate to develop and monitor faculty development for residency programs and core faculty •Enable access to COM resources for GME affiliated programs, such as Simulation, Standardized patients, Library and Research office/grant/statisticians •Lead curricular design, analysis, outcomes and improvement for GME •Monitor progress on COMLEX Level 3 for graduates of the COM •Participate as a faculty member on campus or in one of the affiliated programs •Act as a resource for the development of Scholarly Activity for residents and core faculty •Provide Leadership during the residency Match process •Provide Career advising for 3rd and 4th year students •Follow, accomplish and report on Strategic Planning goals •Other duties to be assigned as necessary and may change to meet the COM’s needs
Supervises a Director and support staff.
Possess a medical degree (DO or MD) and board certification in a medical specialty. Preference will be given to DOs with clinical experience and significant involvement with GME.
