The Assistant Professor of Dance position will join a team of productive and motivated faculty who have a student-centered approach to support preparing undergraduate to become successful in their chosen professional careers.
The Assistant Professor will be expected to: - Teach Dance Major/Minor content undergraduate courses in the Dance Program - Teach movement concepts and technical acquisition of skills. - Work closely with faculty in the Dance program and other faculty in the Department - Engage in academic advising for Dance majors and minors. - Contribute through service on departmental committees - Serve on College, School of Education, and University committees - Participate in the community and professional service - Conduct and disseminate research and scholarship including both articles and presentations in Dance and related fields. - Participate in state and national organizations that serve the field of Dance and other organizations of interest
MFA, MA or MS in an academic discipline of Dance and or related field
Ability to establish productive and collaborative working relationships with other faculty and staff
Commitment to diversity and inclusivity through demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
Doctorate in Dance or related field
Experience teaching dance courses in schools, studios and community settings
Experience teaching undergraduate courses in dance
Experience teaching online courses
Choreographic experience at a performance level
Dance Science background
A record of scholarship
Knowledge and participation of curriculum and program assessment
Participation in state and national organizations
