The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science (MPCS) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science position beginning August 15, 2018. UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio, located in Blue Ash, Ohio, with an enrollment of approximately 5100 students.
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is a two-year regional campus of the University of Cincinnati that awards a variety of two-year Associate and four-year technical Baccalaureate degrees. UC Blue Ash has faculty who are deeply committed to teaching in a diverse environment and who are knowledgeable in the use of technology relevant to classroom pedagogy. The Department of MPCS currently has 22 full-time faculty who teach courses from developmental mathematics through calculus, differential equations and statistics, as well as physics and computer science.
Job duties will entail teaching courses such as Systems Administration, Intro to Networking, Programming 1, and Databases and will include the use of technology relevant to classroom pedagogy such as PowerPoint and NetBeans. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per term and may include evening, weekend, hybrid, and online classes. Class sizes normally range from 16 to 32 students. Responsibilities will also include participating in the governance and committee work of the Department, College, and University, and ongoing professional development in the discipline of information technology and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning. Minimum Qualifications: Earned master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field prior to date of appointment. Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) academic year of teaching experience at the college level and one (1) year of industry experience in systems administration, database management, networking, or programming.
