Central Washington University-Department of Aviation is seeking a tenure-track assistant/associate professor in aviation beginning in fall 2018. The faculty member is responsible for providing instruction to a diverse student population. Instruction includes classroom lessons, flight simulation and practical flight experience.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities for this position include the following: - Teach assigned aviation courses and labs - Develop new courses, prepare and update course outlines as required - Maintain student records and assessment tools for student learner outcomes - Ensure safety standards are met in accordance with the FAA, AABI, and institution requirements - Implement innovative pedagogical tools, including Online learning models - Provide academic advising for aviation students - Assist with the admissions evaluations of incoming aviation students as required - Assist with marketing and recruitment of new students - Conduct scholarly research as per tenure and promotion guidelines - Serve on University and Department committees - Assist department with ongoing accreditation process - Maintains office hours in accordance with University policy
Master's degree in Aviation or other related field
Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate with airplane single engine and instrument airplane ratings (or)
Current FAA Instrument and Advanced Ground Instructor certificates
Experience and demonstrated commitment to diversity
Strong writing skills
Doctoral degree in Aviation or related field
Airline Transport Pilot certificate
Airplane Multi-engine rating
Bombardier CL65 type rating
Meets FAR141.35(e) or 141.36(e) requirements for Chief or Assistant Chief Ground Instructor
Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor experience
College teaching experience
Online teaching experience
Student recruiting experience
Experience with MyFlightTrain program or similar
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas or Blackboard

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
Appointment: Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment, Possibility for summer teaching contracts when required.
