The Assistant Director assists in the administration of multi-faceted federal and institutional student financial aid programs. Primary responsibilities include determining financial need and awards as well as counseling parents and students on federal and institutional aid programs and financing. In addition, manage designated financial aid program(s). Additional responsibilities to include:
Authorize disbursement of aid packages
Evaluate financial aid application forms and federal income tax returns, gather applicant data to comply with federal regulations
Prepare, evaluate, and communicate pertinent program information both internally and externally as appropriate
Update and train peer staff
Ensure timely and accurate management and distribution of information of programs within established timelines
Improve service by updating policies and procedures as appropriate
â¢ Bachelorâ™s degree and two years of financial aid experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Quantitative and analytical skills; organizational skills; attentiveness to detail required.
â¢ Must be able to work independently and be motivated to assist students and their families in understanding the financial aid process and financing options at Brown.
â¢ Must be able to communicate effectively using interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills.
â¢ Experience utilizing computer systems as well as skills with various applications (Word, EXCEL, Powerpoint, Federal EDE, Banner, eg. ) preferred. Experience with managing communication outreach via social media a plus.
