The Registered II will be responsible of performing Therapeutic Apheresis Procedures such as Plasma Exchange, Red Cell Exchange, Photopheresis and Stem Cell Collection. Performs the Health History of allogeneic blood and stem cell donors. Prepares skin for venipuncture and performs venipuncture to collect blood and blood components for transfusion purposes The Registered Nurse, as an expert professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. She/he demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as a catalyst for effective changes within Nursing at the unit, service line and institutional levels. The Registered Nurse provides nursing care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, The Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, CSMC Code of Conduct, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan and Professional Organization Standards. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. He/she can identify the ability of patients to follow directions/instructions and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment; and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones. All External Hires must successfully pass a background check, a prohibited substance screening, and a pre-employment physical.
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: BSN preferred License/Certification/Registration Requirements: CA RN license, AHA BLS Experience: 2 years acute care experience required, Therapeutic Apheresis experience preferred and/or min. two years acute dialysis experience preferred. And, a demonstrated commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and peers. Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) Constant walking and standing. Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs and to access donor collection and therapeutic apheresis equipment.
The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions.
Able to stand for long periods and be able to access apheresis equipment and instruments.
Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment.
