Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm, currently has an excellent full-time employment opportunity for a Professional Development Coordinator in our Houston office. This role has duties that support the entire firm as well as those which support only the local office. We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.
Professional Development Event Duties (30%)
Communicate directly with presenters regarding program logistics and materials. Moderate global CLE programs and serve as point of contact CLE presenters and webinar technology during the live program. Main point of contact for Houston office Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Manage scheduling, e-mails and materials and send to appropriate individuals inside and outside the office Assist Texas attorneys identify, understand and comply with CLE rules
Professional Development Departmental Duties (30%)
Provide back-up services to the department on an as-needed basis, for instance: Litigation Skills Academy back-up: Assist with LSA duties as needed, especially mock trial programs in Texas. Enter CLE attendance and certificates into Micron CE Manager Distribute Associate Development Notebooks to new firm associates in Texas offices. Assist with orientation programs for first year associates and lateral associates in Texas offices.
Attorney & Staff Review Process Duties (Houston Only – Seasonal 5-10%)
Maintain confidentiality and exercise judgment at all times. Familiarity with viDesktop/viEval is preferred. Coordinate local (Houston) performance evaluations process with TX HR Manager Enter employee solicitations for performance review mapping Manage communication of processes and deadlines Schedule review meetings Assemble binders and distribute materials for staff and associate reviews
Human Resources (Houston Only) (15%)
HRIS change entries New hires, position changes, terminations, increases, status changes, etc. Take appropriate actions for terminations such as retrieving security card and office keys, removing access to parking garage, etc. New hires Manage new hire process from offer letter to first day agenda, entry into HR system and serve as point of contact for setting up all access to onboard new employees Maintain personnel files and all signature pages required for firm policies Miscellaneous reporting and information retrieval Work with team to coordinate and schedule annual events Manage resume entry and logging in viRecruit Assist TX HR Manager with various tasks and assignments
Workflow Coordination (Houston Only) (5%)
Receive staff call-out messages and communicate to team/attorneys Manage secretarial backups and communicate with teams re: coverage Coordinate general backup assistance for office Liaison with Kronos and/or Payroll on time adjustments and paid time off entries/changes
Miscellaneous Duties (Houston Only) (15%)
Miscellaneous support for Business Director Finding information and running reports Collaborating on office improvement and culture Be a general resource for the staff and a sounding board Partner with Office Services Manager on office services and facilities tasks Manage office parking lot access Liaison to various vendors and building contacts Coordinate monthly manager meetings Manage various office reward programs Maintain phone sheet and office maps
Skills & Competencies
Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing. Maintain confidentiality and exercise judgment at all times. Superb organizational skills and attention to detail. Highly responsive and client service oriented. Familiarity with viDesktop/viEval is preferred. Strong MS Office proficiency including solid familiarity with PowerPoint. Ability to use technology to enable team based knowledge management. Candidate must be a self-started with the capacity to own and manage projects while proactively anticipating the needs of the team.
Qualifications & Prior Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous experience supporting professional development programs, human resources or recruiting, preferably with a law firm or professional services organization.
