The vice president provides visionary clinical nursing leadership to advance professional nursing practice at Centura Health. This position oversees the design and deployment of enterprise activities that promote professional development, knowledge management,professional practice, and clinical excellence on the part of Centura nurses and other healthcare personnel in all practice settings. The vice president ensures that educational offerings and course curricula are evidence based, meet regulatory requirements, and reference appropriate professional standards of practice. Research is actively promoted, especially in terms of reporting outcomes and advancing nursing science. The vice president partners with key system leaders/stakeholders and collaborates with educators and advanced practice nurses throughout Centura to implement an educational infrastructure for the system. The vice president spearheads critical system educational initiatives such as the enhancement of competency processes, e-learning, residency/preceptor programs for mulitiple levels of profesional nurses, technological advancements, and nursing leadership courses. The vice president also serves in an educational strategic planning and consultative role for leaders and educators within Centura Health. The vice president provides professional nursing oversight to the Regional Float Pool. Provides direct supervision to education and e-learning technical team and educator, operations manager for RFP. Assigned full authority for employment actions including selection, training, coaching, and performance review. The vice president supports and facilitates achievement of Centura nursing strategy. Leads and facilitates actions across the system for clinical staffing resources. The vice president serves as the Centura nursing liaison with affiliate hospitals, universities, and key professional community organizations. The vice president demonstrates a thorough understanding nursing practice in a variety of health care settings (hospitals, ambulatory care, post - acute care) and coordinates professional nursing resources throughout the continuum of care. Manages complex professional practice initiatives from conception to implementation.
Must possess a master's degree in nursing; PhD or doctoral degree preferred;
work experience requirements
5 years of educational experience that reflect academic and/or staff development activities
10 years nursing experience
In addition, 5 years of recent hospital and health system management/leadership experience.
Should demonstrate expertise in problem analysis and project management.
Requires considerable expertise in adult learning principles, educational design of offerings, course curriculum design, and familiarity with evidence based practice and research methodologies.
Excellent public speaking skills are mandatory, along with stellar verbal/written communication skills
High level critical thinking, negotiation, and decision-making skills are essential.
Must be able to comprehend and interpret policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Is able to meet the expectations of multiple constituencies with a service oriented philosophy.
Must be effective in matrix management.

Leadership - 50%
Leads and supports an environment and infrastructure that promotes professional growth. This includes the development and implementation of innovative nursing practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and teamwork.
Accountable for nursing practice in Regional Float Pool through participation in acquisition, preparation, and monitoring of nursing practice.
Collaborates with Centura leaders, facility-based educators, advanced practice nurses, academic faculty, and members of professional organizations to influence curriculum development, research opportunities, and the professional practice of nursing.
Participates in the development and management of a budget related to implementation of enterprise educational initiatives that include the principles of good fiscal stewardship.
Supports educational initiatives that enable facilities to meet ANCC Magnet® standards and other prestigious awards that attest to clinical excellence.
Chairs the CPDC, including coaching and mentoring individual educators as needed. Ensures the CPDC fully integrates with other related Centura councils, Oversees LEARN module approvals at the system level.
Conducts education departmental assessments as needed, and assists with system redesign and innovation..
Participates, as needed, on corporate committees to facilitate the effective educational implementation of enterprise initiatives and to propel system wide strategies and tactics of the nursing division.
Partners with Centura sponsors (CHI/AHS) to co-develop and offer nursing leadership programs at all levels
Performs as liaison with affiliate nursing leaders to provide professional development and practice resources
Partners with colleges, universities, and key community nursing organizations to support key nursing initiatives related to academic preparation of nurses in Colorado.
Serves as a consultant across the system for professional resources and professional practice development.
Serves as a coach for individual leaders in the system and with sponsor organizations.
Strategy - 10%
Creates a vision and strategic plan for clinical education and professional practice within Centura that enables the achievement of national distinction in nursing for clinical excellence.
Develop a Centura Professional Development Council (CPDC) strategic plan aligning with the Centura 2020 strategic plan.
Complement the Nursing Council strategic plan and associated 2020 outcomes.
Provide leadership for strategies and actions related to system wide clinical staffing resource management.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT - 10%
Address knowledge and competency deficits to improve clinical performance and outcomes.
Reviews core mandatory educational requirements on an annual basis to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Promotes specialty education and certification courses that enable advanced clinical skills to be cultivated.
Achieve standardization relative to enterprise educational initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of programs.
Designs innovative educational activities that foster the professional development of associates, thus creating a work
environment that attracts and retains clinicians.
Contribute to the literature through publication of Centura Health best practices.
EVIDENCE BASED MANAGEMENT/RESEARCH– 10%
Fosters evidence based practice and nursing research initiatives, including study design, evaluation, and protection of human rights.
Demonstrates excellence by supporting research on enterprise educational activities.
Ensures that practice, education, and research offerings meet system and entity goals.
Oversees utilization and access to clinical evidence based resources such as Mosby.
Provides leadership to Acute Care Clinical Policy and Procedure Committee and ensures clinical policies are evidence based and support consistent nursing practice across the system.
TECHNOLOGY - 10%
Ensures accessibility to educational offerings for all Centura clinical entities and affiliates
Expands clinical opportunities on the LMS by authoring clinical modules, evaluating existing online education programs/materials, and working with vendors to create enterprise contracts.
Promotes innovative multi-disciplinary educational methodologies, such as the use of high fidelity simulation to validate clinical competency.
OUTCOME/FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT - 10%
Utilizes robust evaluative metrics to measure educational outcomes across the enterprise.
Evaluates existing quality, risk-management, and clinical performance data in order to identify opportunities for education that would enhance clinical outcomes.
Determines return on investment of enterprise educational projects
Develops, monitors, and evaluates annual operating budget for Regional Float Pool
Develops, monitors, and evaluates plan for associate satisfaction, turnover, and other human resource metrics for Regional Float Pool
