Our Department of Applied Mathematics, has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Operations Specialist.
The Program Operations Specialist is responsible for further developing and implementing a number of functions within the Department of Applied Mathematics, most crucially within the Computational Finance & Risk Management (CFRM) program, with varying levels of percent effort allocation over time to address departmental priorities:
Coordinate with campus units involved in the administration and management of self-sustaining degree and non-degree programs
Maintain program documentation and provide necessary training and advice to program faculty and staff
Ensure that necessary supplies for CFRM program faculty and staff are ordered and properly allocated to program cost centers
Manage CFRM and selected departmental website content and oversee related online activities, including newsletters and email/advertising campaigns
Provide guidance on university policy and requirements related to academic and fiscal operations
Develop and deepen relationships with external program partners, including professional societies and advisory boards, in consultation with CFRM Program Director and Departmental Chair; refer employment and professional development opportunities to CFRM Career Services Manager or others as appropriate
Implement marketing and outreach strategies as determined by CFRM Program Director in collaboration with program faculty and staff
Provide project management services for any technology or software infrastructure initiatives for the department, including deployment of a client relationship management (CRM) platform or other database tools
Develop and manage the annual budget for the department's revenue generating programs with timely updates
Provide advance review and guidance for expenditures of program funds, including supplies, printing orders, equipment, software, and outside services
Monthly monitoring & review of program expenditures in Financial Desktop cost results for revenue-generating program budgets (degrees & certificates)
Coordination with UWCC on budgetary matters, as appropriate
Ad hoc financial reporting, as required.
Student Advising and Support
Serve as department point of contact for CFRM student disciplinary issues escalated from advising staff or instructors. Participate in and document any referrals to university student conduct officials.
Participate in CFRM program admissions, including primary responsibility for certificate admissions decisions
Provide backup for CFRM student advising duties covered by Career Services Manager and Advising & Admissions Manager, as required.
Bachelor's Degree in policy, program management, education, or another related field
Program and financial management experience in higher education, preferably at least 3 years in managing self-sustaining, graduate level program or related work
Previous responsibility with budget management and financial reporting in a university or other public institution
Demonstrated competency in contract negotiations and policy discussions.
Familiarity with systems/platforms and tools technology for support of program pedagogical, administrative and marketing purposes Ex/ Mac, Windows, Linux, MS Office, HTML 5, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro or related video editing software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Graduate degree in policy, program management, education, or another related field
Previous experience with counseling of students
