The College of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
JOB SUMMARY: The nurse practitioner assesses, plans and assumes total nursing care of a patient's specific obstetric needs under the direction of a physician. Collaborates with physicians, residents, medical students and nurses as needed. Gives patient care directions to other nursing staff members, following established standards, policies and procedures. Evaluates outcomes of direct patient care and consults with other specialists as needed.
Collaborates with physicians and other health professionals as needed
Provides counseling and education for patients on heath behaviors, disease prevention, self-care, and treatment options.
Diagnoses and treats minor illness in obstetric & gynecologic patients.
Diagnoses, treats, and monitors pre-malignant and malignant diseases with attending physician's supervision.
Obtains, medical histories and conducts physical examinations including pelvic
exams and pap smears and facilitates patient admission and discharge.
Prescribes medications (depending on state regulations)
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS: Must be a licensed Ohio RN and a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. CPR certified. Must have transportation, as position requires travel to different health center sites in the same day.
Competent in providing service to patients of all ages and/or developmental levels.
Participates in continuing education.
Must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills.
