We are now hiring for an hourly Recovery Support Specialist/Peer Mentor to join our Southwest Program!
The Recovery Support Specialist/Peer Mentor is a consumer of mental health services who is in advance stages of recovery. This position serves as a mentor to other consumers working on recovery goals.
Essential Job Functions:
Candidate will have successfully managed the symptoms of their own illness and have a working knowledge of the process. Assists consumers to create crisis plans, learn new skills and will facilitate skills building groups. Assists clients in understanding, seeking and achieving the best possible outcomes as described in their Service Plans, especially those representing the main client problems/ issues/ needs which the program is designed to address. Serves as a strong role model to clients. Provide information to clients, family members, and other stakeholders about the main client problems/ issues/ needs which the program is designed to address, treatment options, natural supports/community resources, etc. Assist clients with budgeting and decision making related to spending wisely, as needed. Co-facilitate prevention/education, wellness, and skill building groups, with other staff. Give presentations to clients, family members and professionals as needed. Assist other staff to identify strengths and needs of the clients. Assist clients to develop and maintain a personal wellness plan, as appropriate. Attend provider multi-disciplinary staffings and/or team meetings, as appropriate. Adhere to agency documentation and confidentiality requirements, as appropriate. Participate in program policy and procedure development and implementation as it relates to clients/family needs, as appropriate.
High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred Relevant experience to perform the functions of a Peer Mentor within the given program. Strong interpersonal and communication skills Positive attitude and self-motivation Good judgment in maintaining responsibilities of the position in advocating for the best interest of clients served. Must have access to a vehicle, proof of insurance and valid driver’s license to perform essential job functions required. Must have basic computer skills High level of ability with oral and written communication. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
