This position is the central liaison providing essential coordination, collaboration, and support for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Public & Payer Policy (PPP) department with transplant centers and payers to support strategic initiatives that aim to increase access to hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT). This position will is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with transplant center (TC) staff accountable for payer based activities, promoting partnerships, and facilitating regular communication. Key duties include: managing relationships; providing Advisory committee support; working closely with other NMDP departments such as Case Management, Patient and Health Professional Services, Donor Services, and Finance; website maintenance, content development and support; PPP publication support; and PPP conference support. Projects and assignments will address access barriers to stem cell transplant.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field required. Advanced degree strongly preferred. Typical qualifications would be a master’s degree in public health (e.g., MPH in health policy, epidemiology, health services research, community health, etc.). Clinical degree (RN, BSN) a plus.
2-3 years of experience in positions with responsibilities that included client/account management, relationship management and project management. Experience in a medical and/or research setting preferred.
Knowledge of epidemiology, health policy, and data-related concepts. Familiarity with HCT processes, health care, and/or public health concepts. Advanced understanding of the US health care reimbursement system, including Medicare, Medicaid and the commercial health insurance industry, and an understanding of ICD and CPT coding and billing practices, specific HCT knowledge a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build strong partnerships and relationships internally as well as externally. Ability to self-start and function with minimal supervision, being well-organized, setting and following priorities, identifying and solving problems. Attentive to detail and exceptional customer service. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to work under deadline pressure when necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs. Professional demeanor, to include: high standards of attendance and punctuality, good interpersonal skills and customer-service attitude, ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to NMDP policies and procedures.
Travel as necessary (estimated: one trip per month)
