The Digital Initiatives Librarian manages the online user experience in the Mount Saint Mary's University Libraries, ensuring that the website and any mobile applications are up-to-date, comprehensive, and user-friendly. The Librarian develops and oversees new programs that support the information needs of faculty, students, and others in the MSMU community, such as consultations about research data management, copyright, and open access; instruction on data literacy; and/or workshops on data visualization. The Librarian collaborates with the University Archivist and the Office of Information Technology to propose, develop and maintain institutional repositories and/or digital collections that preserve and enhance the accessibility of the University's historical artifacts and research data. The Librarian provides general reference and instructional support to patrons at both campuses and participates in collection development.
Manage, evaluate, and oversee the online user experience in the Mount Saint Mary's University Libraries, ensuring that the website and any mobile applications are up-to-date, comprehensive, and user-friendly.
Collaborate with librarians and staff on all aspects of the content management system, including content editing, updates, and development and maintenance of new pages and websites.
Collaborate with library staff and MSMU website managers to perform user experience audits.
Coordinate with the E-resources Librarian and technical services staff to ensure optimal discovery and accessibility of online library resources.
Develop new programs that support the information needs of faculty, students, and others in the MSMU community, such as consultations about research data management, copyright, and open access; instruction on data literacy to support undergraduate research; and/or workshops on data visualization.
Take the lead in developing a full-featured institutional repository at MSMU that will provide a platform for academic publishing by faculty and students.
Collaborate with the University Archivist and the Office of Information Technology to propose, develop and maintain sustainable institutional repositories and/or digital collections that preserve and enhance the accessibility of the University's historical artifacts.
Design and deliver instruction in a variety of formats, including classroom visits, online guides and tutorials, individual consultations, and workshops.
Provide responsive reference and information services to a diverse population of students and faculty. Assist with training work-study students to provide peer research assistance.
Hire, train, and supervise work-study students to assist with the Libraries' digital initiatives.
Develop relevant training and professional development programs and materials for librarians, staff and work-study students in both libraries.
Collaborate on collection development and maintenance projects and help select library materials, encompassing input from faculty, librarians, students, and other members of the community.
Collaborate with the Library Director to develop strategic initiatives that support the University's mission and goals.
Collaborate with, and support, librarians and staff at both campus libraries to ensure optimal service is given to all members of the MSMU community.
Weekends and evenings may be required.
Run reports and create summaries for annual reports.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Libraries.

A passion for working with students, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to motivate others and work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work well with diverse students and faculty and non-traditional students.
ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library and/or Information Science required.
Experience with website development and maintenance required.
Experience providing college or university-level reference services or similar experience preferred.
Experience with digital humanities projects, the provision of data services, research data management, or scholarly communication desired.
