The Proteomics Core Facility is a biomedical proteomics center that supports laboratory and clinical research programs at Memorial Sloan Kettering. The Proteomics Core performs mass spectrometry based analyses of proteins and peptides for the purpose of identification, relative quantitative analysis, and post-translational modification (PTM) analysis. We are currently seeking an experienced research professional at the Research Technician or Senior Research Technician level.
Routinely help with sample submission, imaging of SDS-PAGE prepared samples, uploading of images onto iLabs request pages.
Perform biochemical sample processing including reduction, alkylation, trypsin digestion and desalting of peptides and proteins.
Operate nano-LC-MS/MS systems for the analysis of peptides and proteins and post-translational modification (PTM) experiments.
Perform duties to contribute to the efficient operations of the Core laboratory including daily inspection and operation of instrumentation, monitoring supplies and reagents, and purchasing equipment and supplies as needed
Search databases and produce reports derived from raw mass spectrometry data; create spreadsheets for post-translational modifications analysis.
For Research Technician level, a Bachelor's with 0-3 years of full-time experience or Master's with 0-1 years of full-time experience
For Senior Research Technician level, a Bachelor's with 3+ years of full-time experience with Master's with 1+ years of full-time experience
Preferred Experience: Familiar with SDS-PAGE and protein purification protocols; must have experience in sample processing for mass spectrometric analysis; has experience operating nano-HPLC systems, mass spectrometers such as MALDI-TOF and OrbiTrap mass spectrometers equipped with nano spray sources. Experience with proteomics softwares such as Xcalibur, Mascot, Sequest and Scaffold.
