As a systems administrator in the Linux Platform Team, you will be part of a DevOps team with a focus on continuous integration of enterprise Linux solutions both in our local data center and in the cloud. You will prototype and pilot new locally hosted and cloud systems which can include specifying hardware, specifying and installing operating systems, integrating commercial and public software packages, and significant scripting and automation using Puppet, Python, and shell scripts. Your work will offer many opportunities for close collaboration with other Linux team members, with other teams throughout the Office of Information Technology, and with individuals and teams across the university. As you define new solutions, you will provide training to teams across the university.
Primary job duties will include: - Provide systems administration for multiple locally hosted and cloud Linux-based systems including ERP, identity management, directory services, email, web, storage, and others - Develop and implement new Linux-based systems - Isolate, research, and resolve problems for critical Linux-based systems - Document new systems, new operational methods, and changes to existing systems and methods - Ensure minimal downtime and provide systems support in times of emergency by participating in a paid, on-call rotation - Assist the Associate Director of TI and the Linux Platform Team manager with regular technical operations and special projects
