Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the coordinator of athletic operations will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics’ senior leadership team and is directly responsible for internal operations for the athletic department including, but not limited to: budget, development and enforcement of departmental polities, travel requests and approval, assistance with SAAC, editing of student-athlete and staff handbooks and contract fulfillment/administration. Secondary responsibilities include collaborating with staff on game management, compliance, financial aid, and summer camp oversight in conjunction with the camps and conferences staff. Duties also include significant involvement in personnel issues, hiring, and sport oversight. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Evening and weekend work and some overnight travel required.
Participates in senior level management team.
Advocates issues important to coaches, students and staff.
Manage the business operations as the department’s primary financial liaison to the Business Office, Student Activities Association and Foundation, including budget oversight and departmental spending and revenues.
Prepares NCAA financial reporting and assist with other required reports and audits.
Recommend changes in business processes and policies to the Director and assist in the implementation.
Serve as the University administration representative at various sporting events as needed.
Collaborate with Director of Athletics on staff retreats, staff professional development, staff meetings, coaches meetings and student-athletes educational and training sessions as needed.
Assist Director of Athletics and ESU Foundation is execution of sponsorship agreements.
Generate and maintain various departmental records which include game contracts and various university policies.
Preparation of all mandatory external NCAA, PSAC reporting and internal reports as needed.
Address student-athlete concerns.
Assist in SAAC oversight and development of NCAA life skills initiatives.
Coordinating travel arrangements for all athletic teams in conjunction with the coaches.
Assist in the preparation of the student-athlete handbook and other departmental documents, including strategic plan and staff handbook.
Plan and coordinate departmental special events with appropriate staff members (student-athlete banquet, faculty appreciation, community engagement events).
Assist the Director of Athletics on strategic plan and other projects.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. 1-2 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and knowledge of NCAA intercollegiate athletics.
Work Hours: Hours vary greatly based on time of season. Evening and weekend work and some overnight travel required.
