Responsible for managing the administrative operations of the Institute for Social Sciences Research (ISSR) and the Social Sciences Division. Responsible for facilities, information technology (IT), contracts, budget management and communication. Manages a professional staff comprised of professionals in various fields. Assumes accountability for decisions made by subordinates. Performs long and short term planning for function.
The Director of Operations for the Division of Social Sciences & Assistant Director of the Institute for Social Sciences Research (ISSR) is a part of the leadership team in the Social Sciences Division at UC Santa Cruz. Reporting to the Dean of Social Sciences and under general direction of the Faculty Director of the Institute for Social Sciences Research (ISSR), the Director of Operations of Social Sciences & Assistant Director of ISSR are tasked with supporting the research and operational mission of the Division and ISSR.
Direct areas of responsibility are facilities, business contracts, information technology and communications for an organization consisting of eight departments and 150 active research faculties. Major facilities are located both on and off campus, ranging from cutting edge-research lab space to a 30-acre active research farm. The incumbent will be the divisional liaison to the campus for facilities, safety and information technology.
Experience with R1 university research facilities and information technology needs.
Experience with business contracts and alternative funding streams for university facilities and research entities.
Experience with diverse research fields and practices within Social Sciences.
