Two part-time positions are available for an ALS Supervisor for Brown Emergency Medical Services. The ALS Supervisor serves in both a direct patient care and educational capacity. During assigned shifts, the ALS Supervisor provides all advanced patient care, assists with basic patient care as needed, and oversees the proper safety measures, care and management of EMS supplies and equipment. The ALS Supervisor also oversees the autonomous BLS operations of designated eligible BLS student EMT crews who respond to patients in the ambulance. As adjunct faculty in the EMS Prehospital Education Programs, the ALS Supervisor mentors students, assists EMTs in training new recruits, and runs periodically assigned training activities to assist with EMT licensing, recertification, and continuing medical education.
All positions at Brown EMS require that personnel individually maintain current and active credentials as listed and maintain annual OSHA certifications provided by Brown University. All supervisory personnel must maintain a clean driving record. All non-student supervisory personnel must provide minimum availability to cover at least 3-4 shifts per month, on nights and weekends, that do not conflict with obligations to other employers
Required: RI Licensed Paramedic or AEMT-C with significant educational background
Current Healthcare Provider CPR and ACLS certification; IS 100,200,700, and AWR 160 certification
Preferred: College degree and EVOC Certification
Minimum 3 years ALS experience or the equivalent on a 911 service, preferably in RI
Minimum 1 year supervisory or leadership experience in relevant field
Experience working with volunteer services or commitments preferred
Proficiency in the delivery of prehospital care with careful adherence to State and National standards and protocols
Proficiency or willingness to learn computing programs for electronic medical records and accountability reporting
Physical ability to drive emergency vehicles, climb stairs, move quickly, carry equipment and lift patients
Professionalism, maturity, and global awareness with experience in diverse communities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Academic integrity, interest, and approachability
