Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Staff Nurse.
In this role, the successful candidate Carriers out patient care responsibilities to the fullest extent of their scope of practice with emphasis on decision-making related to the steps in the nursing process to include assessment, diagnosis, identification of expected outcomes, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides competent, safe, ethical and compassionate care based on established NYU Langone Health Patient Care and Nursing Standard. As a member of the trans disciplinary healthcare team, formulates the initial plan of care with the providers and collaborates with them to implement a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care to achieve expected outcomes; utilizes principles of assignment and delegation consistent with the NY State Nurse Practice Act. RN with experience in the field of integrative health. Practitioner will utilize his/her integrative health skills to provide services directly to patients, caregivers and NYU Langone employees in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Practitioner will offer hands-on and mindbody treatments and education to reduce anxiety, stress, and pain and to promote relaxation and general wellness.
Attend unit meetings. Identify other disciplines to include in care plan. Consult with resource RN. Adhere to Be NICE competencies. Escalates patient care concerns appropriately. Demonstrate collaboration with nurse colleagues and care team.
Establish rapport with patients and family. Implement appropriate plan of care using CPG. Develop individualized patient education plan. Provide and document required patient education. Demonstrate knowledge of patient experience measures.
Completes PICO project which is relevant to unit and organizational goals
Understands metrics. Achieves outcomes. Conducts peer review if applicable.
Comply with documentation requirements and training
Provides safe and effective nursing care, EBP project, Demonstrates understanding of HRO, Completes PSI as indicated, Utilize escalation process effectively
Collects patient healthcare data systematically and on an ongoing basis using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments. Analyzes assessment and reassessment data to determine nursing diagnosis. Identifies expected outcomes and anticipates unexpected or adverse outcomes as individualized to the patient. Develop a plan of care that prescribes intervention to attain expected outcomes. Implement interventions identified in the plan of care. Evaluate the patient and family to facilitate and promote health adjustment to new or changed health patterns. Consider needs and behavior of specific patient age and cultural group in all patient care activities.
Support the mission, philosophy, standards, goals, and objective of the institution, the department of nursing, the department of integrative health, and NYU Langone Health strategic area. Participate in coordination of unit activities to provide patient care in a healing, humane and caring environment. Demonstrate knowledge of NYU Langone Core Values and incorporate these into performance responsibilities. Function as a respectful member of the health care team.
Provide care at the bedside and in the ambulatory setting to patients, families, and staff. provide holistic education and wellness programs. Provide and promote non-pharmacological adjunct modalities for pain, stress, anxiety, sleep problems and general wellness.
Review patient records prior to patient interaction/treatment/appointment. obtain oral or written consent for all treatments provided. Utilize correct consent form for correlating treatments if one exists. Utilize therapeutic communication throughout patient interactions.
Review patients progress throughout treatments and continuously evaluate patient response, well being, comfort, and safety. End treatments appropriately by ensuring patient's well-being, comfort, and safety. Allowing patient an opportunity to rest, evaluate response.
Communicate promptly with integrative health clinical nurse coordinator or covering charge nurse of any concerns/questions, untoward responses, and adverse reactions regarding patient care prior to, during, and/or after treatments. Communicate in a timely manner with the patients Registered Nurse and with Social Work ( for inpatients only) for any concerns that warrant an urgent response, such as mental health crisis; suicidal risk, ideation, plan or attempt; or for any other complex mental health issues or concerns.
Demonstrate understanding of contraindications for MindBody therapies ( Relaxation Breathing, Guided Imagery, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, Hypnosis, Massage, Reflexology, & Acupuncture)
Assist patients with readiness, motivation and confidence towards healthy behaviors that can be sustained.
Lead and co-facilitate education events, formal and informal presentations, inservices, wellness events for patients, staff, community, and families.
To qualify you must have a Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
Fluent written and spoken English language skills
Training in holistic nursing/integrative health and relaxation techniques including some of the following techniques but not limited to : integrative health consultations, therapeutic language, guided imagery, energy modalities, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, massage, acupuncture, m-technique, hypnosis, PMR etc..
Required Licenses: Basic Life Support Cert, Registered Nurse License-NYS
Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred. Certification in Reiki, M-Technique, Relaxation training, Therapeutic Touch, or other holistic nursing/integrative health offerings.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
