Potomac State College, part of the WVU system of campuses, is seeking applications for a Web Content Specialist. As part of the University Relations marketing team, this position will use a creative approach to provide oversight and technical management for the College's website, including content creation, graphic design, and multimedia production.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Research, develop, and implement the latest web technologies, including responsive design, design processes, progressive enhancement techniques, search engine optimization, accessibility, etc.
Implement daily updates to maintain the College's website, as well as the Athletics website, which is a separate entity operated through Presto Sports.
Collaborate with the University Relations team and Enrollment Services to ensure that a consistent, collaborative message exists between the website, recruitment and marketing materials, and advertising.
Produce, edit, and incorporate a variety of multimedia features, including photography, videography, interactive forms, web portals, surveys, etc.
Partner with videographers, designers, and photographers on an as-needed basis to assist with development of high-quality visual content.
Work with the Morgantown campus's Digital Media Team for technical updates and informational content.
Serve as a liaison to various departments across the College to ensure website information is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
Conduct periodic user testing to determine effectiveness of site design, architecture, usability, and navigation consistency.
Manage the College's messages during weather alerts and emergency/crisis situations.
Assist with designing advertisements for billboards, social media, and various publications as time allows.
Work Hours: Vary; must be willing to work outside the traditional work week when necessary

Bachelor's degree in graphic design, web design, multimedia design or related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
A combination of at least two (2) years of experience in the following fields required:
Photography and/or videography
Strong writing skills with the ability to present information in a succinct, energetic voice for the website
Knowledge of web accessibility jQuery, Sass, Git, Subversion, CLI, and content management systems preferred
Ability to compile, interpret, and present data from Google Analytics
Ability to work within a content management system and to create templates
