TheInformation Security Analyst maintains systems to protect data from unauthorized users. Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations. This role designs, develops, tests and deploys security for applications or systems. Collaborates with users, to obtain and implement user security requirements, including row-level security. This position ensures compliance with all security associated NU (Northwestern University), state, and federal rules and regulations. The Information Security Analyst works closely with NU, individual school and/or department IT to ensure security measures are implemented and communicated effectively.
This specific role will be homed on the security team in the centralized Feinberg School of Medicine Information Technology group.
Collaborates with users to identify appropriate security accesses needed.
Reports feedback from users regarding security needs and challenges.
Maintains records, forms and documentation.
Assists in the preparation of training materials and communications.
Conducts training sessions; shares educational information with users.
Reviews requests for access and authorizes appropriate levels of security based on user needs, guidelines and policy.
Administers all security aspects for users.
Designs and maintains security items such as roles, permission lists, query and report access, component interfaces, and batch process groups.
Provides troubleshooting assistance to users regarding security and access issues.
Partners with users and internal/external staff to monitor report and departmental level security access within applications or systems.
Participate with other team members in the operation of the data security plan program and implementation of vulnerability and penetration assessments and remediation activities.
Develop project plans and prepare security measurement reports as required.
Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years systems security or equivalent experience required.
Experience with the following:
Infrastructure (extends across applications):active directory design, administration, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Box Collaborative Storage, identity management/provisioning, information security, Linux Operating System, Mac OS X Operating System, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook), Microsoft SharePoint, Windows Operating System.
Project: Collaboration and teamwork, facilitate collaboration, functional documentation, organizational skills, planning, write proposals and project charters.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Desirable or willingness to obtain, one or more security certification credentials such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CIPP
Clinical research and/or compliance experience from the pharmaceutical industry and/or higher education research institutions.
Technical expertise in networking, server-client technology, and operating systems;
Well-developed and proven analytical and persuasion skills, with ability to relate to technical and non-technical personnel at all levels within the organization.
