The curriculum specialist is an essential position in order to assure compliance with LCME accreditation standards. There are two major areas of focus: 1. Need for updating and continuous alignment of AMS Curriculum Mapping across all four years of medical school at the programmatic, course, and individual session level. 2. Active and ongoing monitoring of student fulfillment of competencies across the four year curriculum.This position will provide high-level support to the Assistant Deans for Medical Education in the Office of Medical Education and works closely with the Director of Assessment and Evaluation. Support of the Year I director includes building and maintaining an exam question database that will be directly linked to the programmatic, course, and session objectives in alignment with the overall AMS curricular map.
Under the direction of the first-year curriculum director, s/he also plans and implements new and ongoing curriculum initiatives related to active learning and the integration of instructional technology and the arts and humanities into the preclinical curriculum.
Required: BA required plus 1-2 years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
1-2 years working at a Medical School preferred
Experience as teacher, faculty advisor and student mentor extremely helpful
Experience with curriculum development preferred
High level of computer literacy
Must be well-organized, flexible and an effective communicator
Ability to multi-task; demonstrates ability to follow through on tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines
Collaborative and works effectively in a team setting.
Initiative and judgment to independently problem-solve and prioritize.
Ability to work under pressure.
