Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, our Financial Analysts are responsible for the general accounting function including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules, ledger, account and bank reconciliations. Assisting with monthly closings, account analysis and supporting the senior accountants in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department. Brief Description of Duties: Prepare monthly journal entries Complete general ledger operations Monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts Assist with the compilation of monthly financial reports Prepare analysis of general ledger accounts as requested Assist with year-end closings Accounts receivable and accounts payable reconciliations Account/bank reconciliations Property, plant and equipment reconciliations Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures Required Qualifications: BS in Accounting with a minimum of 3 years of full-time accounting experience required.. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.Familiarity with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Audit and Accounting Guide for Health Care Entities. Knowledge of finance principles. Knowledge of financial reporting. Excellent data analysis skills, and ability to synthesize and comprehend large quantities of data. Must be comfortable with technology, and be able to demonstrate proficiency with MS Office package, skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets in particular. Knowledge of accounting software. Preferred Qualifications: MS/MBA in Accounting, CPA/CPA candidate preferred. Previous healthcare accounting experience preferred. Experience with Infor10/Lawson preferred.
