Rutgers School of Public Health, partnered with the Communicable Disease Service at the New Jersey Department of Health, is recruiting for an Epidemiologist with the necessary education, training, and experience to assess, quantify, and report on infection prevention and control capacity in New Jersey. This position is a member of a healthcare-associated infections (HAI) team with a home base in Trenton at the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH). Duties of the Epidemiologist include developing collaborative relationships with health professionals at the local, state, and federal level regarding issues related to HAI and infection control. The Epidemiologist will be responsible for:
supporting antimicrobial stewardship activities to promote infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship opportunities in facilities
creating and sending outreach messages addressing priority issues for healthcare facilities
assisting in partnering with ambulatory surgery centers for antimicrobial stewardship and HAI/AR prevention
assisting in HAI outbreak and investigations as needed.
performing descriptive analyses
developing tools (e.g., questionnaires, worksheets, line lists)
the application of analytical methods
the provision of guidance to facilities and local health departments on infection control capacity
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology or other relevant Master's degree in the health field. The successful candidate will have more than 2 years of experience in applied epidemiology, strong interpersonal skills, and experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in statistical analysis programs (e.g., SAS, Excel, Access) and experience with communicable disease investigations preferred. Valid Driver’s License and access to vehicle transportation is required.
