Job Description Summary:
Assistant Professor of German with a specialty in pre-20th Century German Literature and Culture and a secondary specialty in Feminist or Queer Theory.
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures is seeking a full-time, tenure-track position in German with a specialty in pre-20th Century German Literature and Culture. The qualifications for such a position include: Ph.D. in German (lang. & lit.) or equivalent, by August 15, 2018; native or near-native proficiency in both German and English; a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching; demonstrated ability to teach language (beginner through advanced levels); an ability to teach a full spectrum of literature survey courses and a pre-20th century literature capstone course; an ability to teach a course on feminist or queer theory; demonstrated willingness to perform departmental, college and university service, with the potential to head a departmental German section; demonstrated ability to advise for a study-abroad/exchange program. We will conduct interviews at the 2018 meeting of the MLA in New York.
