Job Posting: Summary of Essential Job Duties: Job Duties: Under the leadership of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating the daily twenty-four (24) hour operations of assigned patient care in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and in support of Medical Center philosophies. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as a leader and an expert professional practitioner, and assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manager consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities utilizes his/her knowledge base and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others, demonstrates motivation and creativity, and serves as a catalyst for effective change within Nursing at the department and institutional levels. The Assistant Nurse Manager ensures nursing staff on assigned unit(s) perform within their scope of responsibility and duties, and ensures accountability at the facility, department and position levels, including knowledge of required clinical/technical skills consistent with the Nurse Practice Act. Nursing job duties meet requirements of the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, Joint Commission, The Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, The Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, and other regulatory requirements. The Assistant Nurse Manager ensures compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals. Additional management responsibilities include supporting quality improvement and the clinical care delivery processes; staffing, scheduling, and retention of staff; safety and quality management; and participation on unit practice council and TCAB. In conjunction with the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager assists with all processes applicable to assigned unit(s), including human resources, budgeting, staffing, quality improvement planning and educational develop programs. The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises and assumes responsibility for promoting maximum growth and development of each employee he/she supervises, supports research, participates in strategic planning, both long and short term, and assures patient advocacy. Educational Requirements: Education Requirements: Baccalaureate Degree Academic credentials in health care specialty, as applicable or a comparable level of education and experience. BCLS. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Current California Registered Nurse License, and BCLS Experience: Experience: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the trends and forces shaping the healthcare delivery system, the provision of care, and other emerging issues in healthcare management. Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory experience in clinical, patient, or specialty field. Demonstrated flexibility and initiative to effectively lead change efforts to respond to environmental or organizational changes. Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated fiscal management capabilities, including effective expense reduction, utilization management, and budget control. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational, License, Certification and Other Requirements: -B.S.N. from an accredited school of nursing is preferred. -Current and valid registered nurse license from the State of California. -Current and valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association. -Specialty Certification is preferred (OCN, Palliative Care, Pain Management, ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy). Will be required to obtain within 6 months of hire. -Must possess minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills and applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist. -Full command (written and verbal) of the English Language. -Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
