Joining as a senior member of our 14-strong research team, you will be a 'hands-on', practical researcher, and help drive the continuous improvement of our detailed, proprietary, multi-sector private company research. You will lead by example, and run your own special projects, including bespoke research requested by sponsors and the possibility of managing a new league table focusing on the fastest-growing tech start-ups.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in, and ability, to conduct relatively simple analysis of the performance of private companies at the micro level of analysis of their individual accounts as opposed to aggregated trends and industry-wide insights. You will be attracted to working in Oxford for a small, but highlyregarded, entrepreneurial company with a successful 20-year track record.
You will be a graduate with at least three years' relevant financial company research, likely gained from working in:
small-cap or buyside equity research
business consultancy or accountancy
You will report into our director of research & editorial, and/or our new director of research, taking on responsibility as Fast Track's lead researcher to help support the team and to trouble shoot. If you demonstrate the ability to help manage the research team there is the opportunity for promotion to deputy head of research, replacing our previous deputy who has left after six years to go travelling.

Project management: lead, manage and help conduct the research and publication of one or more of our annual league tables published with The Sunday Times featuring the UK's top-performing private companies, ranging from the fastest-growing, such as BrewDog and FarFetch, to biggest, such as Dyson and JCB

Account handling: help service our blue-chip sponsors, which range from Grant Thornton, HSBC, PwC and BDO (7+yrs) to DHL Express and Virgin Media Business (2 yrs); and help prepare for, attend and follow-up on sponsor meetings
Graduate with at least three year's relevant company research and project management experience, and ideally accountancy training and/or qualification
Detailed working knowledge of, and interest in, analysing private-company performance in multiple sectors on a micro-level of their accounts, as opposed to aggregated industry trends and insights
Excellent inter-personal skills, and preferably some experience of managing people/teams
Experienced at using financial data sources as research tools, such as Companies House & BvD's Fame; and competent at Excel and Access
Organised, with meticulous attention to detail; and the ability to deliver to tight deadlines and ability to write clearly, concisely, and relevantly to different types of audiences
Highly service-orientated, with experience of managing upwards to internal stakeholders
A strong interest in, and some knowledge of, entrepreneurs and private companies – ideally including TMT
