Position Summary: This 12-month residency is offered in conjunction with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and the Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) Foundation. The primary goal of the program is to improve health outcomes through a systems approach and decreasing health disparities in HIV/AIDS and cancer. The PharmD. Resident will spend approximately six months in southern Africa as part of the BMSF SECURE THE FUTURE Program to build capacity and provide training to partner organizations providing care and support for patients aging with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and/or cancers. The Resident will then complete the remainder of the program in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, working with the Specialty Care for Vulnerable Populations and other BMSF initiatives that address health inequities in cancer and cardiovascular diseases patients in the United States.
As adjunct faculty at the Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, there will be many opportunities for the Resident to enhance their experience by collaborating with faculty through scholarship, publication, teaching, and maintenance of clinical skills. The Resident will also be invited to participate in activities offered through the Rutgers Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship (RPIF) Program (http://pharmafellows.rutgers.edu) including participation in the bimonthly Professional Development Series, and will have access to a large network of Fellowship alumni.
Applicants should possess a PharmD degree. Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent experience is strongly preferred. An interest in exploring a career in the public health is desirable. Prior experience, and/or a professional passion for working in public health, community health and/or in chromic disease state management including HIV/AIDS and oncology is preferred.
