About the Position
Reporting to the Director under general supervision receives work lead direction and assignments from the Accommodations Coordinator (AC), the Services & Accommodations Support Specialist works independently within established guidelines using knowledge and judgment to apply existing procedures to support the Accessible Education Center Testing Program. The Services & Accommodations Support Specialist provides disability management to students with disabilities utilizing testing services and auxiliary aids, acts as a resource to the greater campus and community at large in relation to the Testing Accommodations Program and AEC.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Collaborates with AC in the coordination and administration of all university required exams, both standardized and classroom. Carries out assignments, plans work and independently resolves sensitive problems that may arise, while referring broader implications to the AC.
Administers academic exams with accommodations to students with disabilities in compliance with ADA, Section 504 and Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 while maintaining the integrity of the student and the testing program standards.
Coordinates and assists with the complexity of testing accommodations to include, but not limited to: test preparation & return, scheduling of educational assistants, preparing hardware and software access and adaptive technology equipment.
Assist in providing alternative formats for materials (e.g.: large print, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), scanning and preparation) as it relates to the administration of testing.
Acts as liaison to the faculty for students via written and oral communication for all testing related issues and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of accommodations.
Upholds the high-level process and procedures to protect testing integrity, including technology security for e-exams.
Informs students regarding testing accommodations procedures and regulations.
Collaborates with AC to recruit, interview, hire, train and oversee Testing Program Educational Assistants.
Assists with data collection, maintaining logs, files, and program records.
