The Director of Social Work will be responsible for:
Providing clinical, administrative, and fiscal oversight to the Social work Department; a team of over 200 doctoral and masters prepared social workers working across over 85 practice areas throughout the enterprise.
Working directly with social work supervisors and other clinical/administrative leaders in inpatient, ambulatory, community based and behavioral health settings to ensure that all clinical and support staff are providing the highest quality, evidence-based social work interventions to our patients and families.
Maintaining practice standards that are consistent with those required by regulatory and accrediting bodies as well as those embedded in the NASW code of ethics and for directing regular audits to monitor compliance.
Developing social work competencies and standards to accurately measure staff performance including the review of all performance evaluations.
Developing staffing plans, role definitions and programming for new social work roles throughout the enterprise. Assisting in the preparation of proposals for additional staffing.
Oversight of all areas related to the recruitment and retention of high quality social work staffs who reflect the diversity of our patient population. Interviewing all finalists for all positions. Maintaining up to date files for all employees.
Working in close collaboration with the Trust to engage potential donors. Providing reports to donors regarding the expenditure of restricted funds. Distributing all extraordinary needs and special funds requests made on behalf of families in accordance with GAP.
Working with Government Relations to provide expertise, testimony and advocacy as needed to address policy issues impacting our patients. Meetings with law makers, testimony and participation in coalition events.
Overseeing social work committees to ensure direction and productivity is consistent with mission.
To qualify, you must have:
A Master's degree in Social Work, with a minimum of 10 + years of Social Work experience.
The analytical skills to resolve scientific, clinical, human resources, legal, financial, or administrative problems that require the innovative application of the highest levels of specialized knowledge and/or develop financial and operating plans for one of the hospital's major departments/divisions.
The ability to effectively manage the employees within assigned department/division and to persuade and negotiate with peerlevel department heads and/or with external agencies/facilities on issues and programs that impact assigned department as well as several other large departments/divisions.
