RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Student Involvement is committed to providing comprehensive and meaningful educational experiences for students in the co-curriculum. Through the creation of intentional learning environments, the Department of Student Involvement helps students acquire leadership and other transferable skills that can be utilized throughout their academic and professional careers.
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Director of Student Involvement is to oversee the co-curricular learning environment for the College through the sponsorship of over 60 student clubs/organizations, community building programs, off-campus trips, leadership development initiatives, multicultural events, and other experiential learning opportunities for students. These opportunities should speak to the diversity of the population at the College.
The Director of Student Involvement will:
Manage the operations of the Department of Student Involvement, to include the planning, supervision and evaluation of work done by: two Associate Directors, Club/Organization Coordinator, Radio Station Manager, Black/Hispanic Male Initiative Coordinator, Marketing Coordinator, Viking News Advisor, and an Office Assistant.
In conjunction with the Faculty/Student Association, manage the student activity fee, including budgets and purchase approvals for the: Department of Student Involvement, Student Government Association, Westchester Events Board, student media organizations, recognized student clubs, and new student orientation.
Coordinate New Student Orientation, to include: program planning, implementation, and assessment for summer, winter, and online programs; as well as the selection, training, and supervision of the student Orientation Leaders/Peer Advisors.
Coordinate the annual May Commencement Ceremony, including: rehearsal, cap/gown distribution, volunteer recruitment, and on-site logistics planning and execution.
Advise the Student Government Association (SGA) and other major student organizations. This individual will design and implement trainings and continual interventions to help student leaders understand their responsibilities and develop the knowledge and skills to be successful.
Serve as a resource for recognized clubs/organizations, including student leaders and faculty/staff advisors, by providing on-going training and support in areas that include, but are not limited to: event planning, off-campus travel, membership recruitment/retention, budget management, etc.
Serve as a Conduct/Hearing Officer for the College, adjudicating alleged cases of violations to the Student Code of Conduct.
Manage departmental assessment initiatives through the establishment and utilization of student learning outcomes and their respective assessment instruments.
Other duties as assigned by Associate Dean of Student Life.
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field and five years of experience in student affairs, preferably within student activities. This individual must have working knowledge of student development theory and experience advising and training student organizations.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $86,001 plus competitive benefits.
