The Phlebotomist/Interviewer position is a full time, 4 year position with the possibility of renewal based on continued funding and job performance. This position will support recruitment and data collection for the Boston Puerto Rican Health Study, a longitudinal follow-up study of at least 550 participants. The Phlebotomist/Interviewer will draw fasting blood samples from participants in their homes; perform proper processing and transport of specimens back to the lab for analysis; organize and track samples; and keep accurate records of all phlebotomy-related activities and needs. S/he will also conduct comprehensive health and dietary interviews with study participants in English and/or Spanish, participate in contacting, recruiting and scheduling study participants for interviews and follow-up questions, and assist with scheduling and coordinating MRIs of participants at a hospital in Boston. The Phlebotomist/Interviewer must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Associates degree in health related field or relevant area
1-2 years of experience in an academic, hospital or community research setting
Bilingual in English and Spanish, both oral and written
Experience with Microsoft Office
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Bachelors degree in health related field or relevant area
Experience with field work and work in health or nutrition-related research preferred
Experience working with diverse populations preferred
Special Instructions to Applicants:
**Frequent travel between the UML campus, in Lowell, MA and data collection sites in Boston, MA. Must have regular and reliable access to a car.
This position is contingent upon funding.
