The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Senior Communications Designer.
The Senior Communications Designer is the leader of Advancement Communicationsâ™ Digital and Creative design team. He/she is an expert in graphic, web, email, and print design and is responsible for producing engaging, user-centric products that support the divisionâ™s fundraising and outreach goals. S/he is also responsible for maintaining and enforcing the divisionâ™s brand identityâ“especially that of the BrownTogether Campaignâ“and ensuring that all communications are visually aligned to it. S/he manages a small design staff who are also experts in web/email communications and print/graphic design.
5-6 years full-time experience and/or demonstrated proficiency with designing and producing print and marketing materials for organizations and/or businesses.
5-6 years full-time experience and/or demonstrated proficiency building fully functional websites and using web development tools to create sophisticated features, multi-media content and HTML-formatted e-mail.
Demonstrated proficiency in using Adobeâ™s suite of design and web development tools required.
Required: Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Degree or certificate of completion in web design and/or development with a strong focus on Art & Media.
Experience with producing various print media and marketing materials required. Must demonstrate a portfolio of designed products.
Experience Lyris ListManager preferred. Experience with Campaign Monitor, MailChimp and/or other bulk mail tools and services a plus.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels and juggle multiple projects to meet deadlines.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with a strong focus on communicating administrative and programmatic content required.
Ability to manage multiple projects, while maintaining high quality. Ability to work well under deadlines.
Must demonstrate proven aesthetic judgment, have excellent visual design ability, and strong conceptual ability.
