Title Position Reports To: Associate Dean of Student Affairs JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards is responsible for administration and enforcement of the Code of Conduct. The Director works closely with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs to set and fulfill the goals of the department and the mission of the University.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES: Direct the student disciplinary process related to non-academic matters in accordance with Code of Conduct. Direct or oversee adjudication of University responses to academic dishonesty in accordance with Code of Conduct. Oversee hearings involving students facing suspension or expulsion. Issue interim measures including but not limited to no contact orders in advance of conduct outcomes when necessary and advise other administrators seeking same for students. Serve as Title IX investigator for the University and maintain required training. Plan and execute ongoing training of University Hearing Boards. Maintain Board readiness to conduct hearings through regular scheduled and as needed efforts. Provide regular training to conduct officers including Residence Hall Directors Resident Assistants and other Student Affairs staff. Oversee staff including to provide preventative programs for the campus community including students faculty and other staff. Manage the implementation distribution interpretation and publication of assessment tools for the department. Oversee budget preparation and administration long range planning and other matters related to student conduct. Inform and work with parents of students who have serious alcohol drug or other policy violations. Collaborate with other programming bodies and supervise student staff efforts on campus involving issues of civility and ethical decision making in an atmosphere that supports and demonstrates a commitment to diversity inclusion and equality. Lead multi-disciplinary team to develop execute and assess evidence based prevention strategies to reduce sexual misconduct harassment and discrimination while advancing equity and ensuring collaboration across Student Affairs. Manage database and track cases including sanction completion and necessary follow-up. Conduct disciplinary background checks regarding students. Oversee compliance with annual Clery requirements. Provide outreach to campus community regarding the Code of Conduct. Generate reports including statistical analysis. Work directly with faculty Residence Hall Directors and other administrators in the development and implementation of interventions and programs to improve the academic and educational value of the University and to reduce policy violations. Represent the department on University-wide committees and in other areas to ensure the timely communication of student issues. Participate in the preparation of various publications about the Code of Conduct for students and staff as needed. As needed fulfill the associate dean’s duties in the event of his/her absence. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Three years prior experience with student conduct preferably in college setting. Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills. Knowledge and experience working with student development programming. Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word Excel Access and PowerPoint. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to students faculty and staff of varying racial ethnic religious gender cultural disability and socioeconomic backgrounds. Knowledge and experience with federal guidelines related to higher education particularly Title IX FERPA Clery and ADA/504.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires frequent typing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent reading for extended periods of time. Requires frequent speaking to groups for extended periods of time.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in Education Student Personnel or related field preferred. Professional residence hall experience preferred. Experience working with diverse groups. Mediation training and experience helpful.
