Specialist in big data technologies to provide strategic direction and leads with the highest degree of analytical and technical database and tool expertise as the widely-acknowledged expert in his/her area. Individual will be responsible for providing technical leadership to the application development and business teams in the organization. Researches and prescribes the best practices for advanced data stores and features. Able to solve complex and unique business challenges.
Key Responsibilities: •Responsible for defining strategic direction and providing leadership in the research, evaluation, design, engineering and delivery of big data solutions, including but not limited to Hadoop, Hbase, Hive, Flume, Spark, Sqoop, and Elastic search. •Responsible for recommending the future engineering design of big data systems which impacts multiple customers and business areas throughout the enterprise, including reference architecture and technical roadmaps. •Formulates, evaluates and reviews big data eco-system plans which meet the requirements of the customers, vendors, technical, and systems development project teams. •Ensures documentation standards are maintained •Provide leadership to solve complex and unique business challenges in coordination with technology vendors. •Defines enterprise wide best practices for use of various big data technologies. •Work in matrix environment and provide technical guidance to other team members.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required: •5+ years of experience in implementing big data solutions, both on-premise and in the cloud, with a demonstrated focus on architecture and engineering •7+ years of hands-on experience in engineering continuously available and high performing database environments •7+ years of experience with one or more operating systems i.e. UNIX, Linux, Windows and z/OS as part of the database environment with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting experience. •7+ years of experience in supporting high severity issues, impact assessment, and problem management of database related issues. •Possesses excellent analytical ability and aptitude for implementing and debugging DBMS software and related tools. •Ability to develop productive relationships with client and IT management, staff and vendors.
Preferred: •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline •2+ years of team leadership, supervisory or other similar experience. •Experience with agile methodologies, NoSQL, DevOps, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, data movement technologies and data virtualization •Vendor certification in at least one DBMS and related technology. •Knowledge of TRICARE, SOX and other regulatory environments.
