Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center (BCHHC), a large and diverse critical access hospital, has an outstanding opportunity for a Director Laboratory Services. This newly-built (2012), 144,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility represents a commitment to provide the highest quality of care to the communities it serves. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the director is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all day-to-day laboratory services for the facility. This technologically up-to-date, CLIA-accredited department has 23 FTEs and supports 93,000 annual studies for inpatient and outpatient care. Special testing needs are provided by LabCorp Nebraska and Pathology Medical Services.
The director works closely with providers, nursing staff and leadership to develop, implement and maintain clinical and operational programs that enhance the quality of care and achieve a high level of patient and physician satisfaction.
Beatrice is located in southeastern Nebraska less than 40 minutes from Lincoln and affords an enviable quality of life and cost of living. Less than 5 minutes from town is the Homestead National Monument and Tallgrass Prairie, commemorating the first homestead in the nation under the Homestead Act of 1862. This is prime hunting and fishing territory.
Candidates will have from 3-5 years of laboratory supervisory management experience and a Bachelors’ degree in Medical Technology and ASCP certification. Ideal candidates with current bench skills, will be team-centered and have excellent communication, relationship and leadership ability. Experience related to budgeting, planning, delegation, supervision, mentoring/coaching, quality and process improvement, technical (bench and instrumentation) processes and compliance are required.
