Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Grants Administrator for the Office of the Dean at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Grants, Contracts and Restricted Funds, the position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all projects, grants, contracts and other restricted accounts and related functions associated with research, sponsored programs and restricted funds activities at RWJMS. Ensures that both pre- and post-award activity complies with federal, state, university and sponsor requirements.
Monitors all research grant proposals prior to submission to federal, state, corporate and other agencies to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
Provides guidance and expertise to faculty, administrators and other staff on proposal development and grant applications for external support opportunities from federal, state, corporate and other funding agencies.
Assists in the development of internal policies and procedures regarding research grant and contract proposals and applications.
Manages process to centralize and prioritize responses to internal and external requests for data for grant and non-grant (restricted) accounts.
Reconciles award activity and provides reports to the Associate Director, Departments and Centers.
Provides analytical support to the medical school research projects by monitoring account balances in order to avoid deficits.
Maintains expertise in University and federal, state, corporate and other agencies to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
Interacts with state, federal and private agencies for negotiation of clarification of procedure aspects of terms related to grants and contracts.
Coordinates activities and disseminates information among the faculty, staff and administrators of the university (e.g., grant notices, grant policy changes, etc.).
Develops communication and education opportunities to promote sponsored programs activities (e.g., workshops, newsletters, department web page, faculty orientation, special programs/presentations, etc.).
Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field plus four years of related experience involving research and sponsored programs administration, ideally in an academic environment.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the education requirement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and expertise of Federal and State agency regulations, policies, procedures and laws applicable to sponsored programs activities.
Understanding of proposal developing, finding funding, Institutional Review Board regulations, clinical procedures and protocols, and other grant-related activities.
Knowledge of computer programs, including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, demonstrated strong service orientation and the ability to function in a team environment.
Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment.
