Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Compliance Investigator for University Ethics & Compliance (UEC). The Compliance Investigator is responsible for independently conducting investigations involving suspected violations of University policies, as well as civil regulations and Federal and State laws.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts independent, prompt, impartial, thorough investigations into criminal, civil, and administrative violations that may result in disciplinary or criminal action against a student, staff or faculty staff member. This includes identifying and interviewing relevant persons; gathering and securing information and documents; identifying additional information that is necessary to complete a thorough assessment of the circumstances; reviewing and analyzing facts; and preparing reports for senior management.
Prepares investigative reports that clearly identify the critical facts discovered in the course of the investigation, provides a thorough and thoughtful analysis of such facts and the policy/law, and demonstrates sound judgment.
Coordinates and/or participates in collaborative investigations with other departments of the university, such as internal audit, student affairs, or public safety, and/or outside agencies and law enforcement.
Cooperates with law enforcement and court personnel when necessary; serves as a witness in potential court or administrative proceedings.
Generates correspondence; manages schedules; maintains accurate records; gathers and reviews information such as audit reports, police reports, university email, and notifies and responds to management as necessary
Participates in the development, planning and implementation of new programs and projects to improve methods, techniques and skills of University Ethics and Compliance.
Coordinates or independently conducts scheduled and special inspections of University installations, systems and procedures.
Prepares and reviews investigation and audit reports, correspondence or other documentation.
Investigates the misconduct of University employees and presents evidence to senior University management for consideration in disciplinary cases.
Exercises normal protective care for the use of facilities and equipment, including vehicles, and Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and the State Conflicts of Interest statute.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Also requires 5 years relevant experience in audit, investigation, or compliance areas.
Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
