1. Serves as campus resource person for retention, including implementing, maintaining and tracking retention efforts under the early alert system.
2. Coordinates Student Referral Process, including meeting with students in-person and through correspondence, following up with instructors and collecting data on Early Alert.
3. Refers students to proper departments/individuals for support.
4. Trains staff and faculty on retention efforts and support services.
5. Refers students to the appropriate services to help with education/career objectives, choosing academic major, scheduling classes, and enrollment.
6. Assists students in their efforts to adjust to college level studies.
7. Work with Student Academic Support Director to gather data to assess the impact of early notifications and milestone recognition on increased persistence, success, and graduation.
8. Establish and maintain effective working relationships among college faculty, staff, and outside institutions.
9. Research and apply best practices from other institutions especially similar two-year community colleges.
10. Maintain confidentiality of student records and other information.
11. Work assigned schedule, exhibit regular and predictable attendance and work outside of normal schedule as needed to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 10 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: infrastructure building; best practices in student retention at the community college level; early alert systems and their impact on student success and retention; computer software, programs and applications; team approach to completing a project; academic pathways, interventions, and support services designed to increase student success and retention Skill in: verbal and written communications; maintaining general typing; application of job software; operating general office equipment; planning, multi-tasking, scheduling, and organizing work; general clerical practices. Ability to: work effectively with others to positively influence progress and results; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public, and other job contacts; maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field of study with at least one year of progressively responsible related experience. At least two years of academic advising/counseling in adult or higher education. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
Additional Information: This position is a full-time, six month temporary assignment.
