In late 2016, we introduced our second-generation product, nVoke, combining the neural circuit imaging of nVista with optogenetic manipulation.
As a data scientist, you will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with our internal scientists and software and algorithm developers to study the encoding and decoding of information in large-scale neuronal populations, apply machine learning methods and statistical modeling to high-dimensional neural data, employ active learning methods for closed-loop experiments, develop algorithms or improve existing methodologies for image processing, motion correction, cell identification and trace extraction, and/or contribute to our standardized data processing platform for automated analysis of neuronal dynamics from large-scale optical calcium imaging-data. As a data scientist, you will be a key member of our collaborative R&D team and will be involved in the study design and analysis of new technology applications.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
PhD in Neuroscience or in a STEM field with significant Neuroscience exposure
Strong mathematical/scientific programming skills in a language such as Matlab, Python or R
Experience with large-scale data analysis, cloud computing experience a plus
Experience working closely with experimentalists in study design and data analysis
Hands-on experience with statistics and machine learning
Experience with data visualization, libraries such as Matplotlib, seaborn, ggplot, D3 a plus
Experience with image processing, calcium imaging experience a big plus
Team-Oriented – ability to multitask on a variety of projects with diverse needs
Detailed-Oriented - ability to develop detailed plans and then execute on those plans
Priority-Minded - ability to stay focused, identifying and executing on only the most important issues
Adaptable - ability to know when and how to act quickly to proactively solve problems
Good publication record a plus
