The Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the President of TCC Connect and has responsibility for fostering and sustaining an academic culture that promotes collaboration, innovation and excellence in teaching and learning, especially among faculty. Participates in teaching and learning policy and program review and recommends changes. Performs the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides executive leadership for the planning, development, and delivery of distance learning programs and courses, including online and blended learning, and accelerated/adult education.
Directs and coordinates online & hybrid/blended learning and accelerated/adult education activities of divisional deans
Oversees hiring and personnel evaluation processes on the campus and advises on personnel matters
Works with student issues and strives for consistent interpretation of the College policies related to students
Actively participates in community-related organizations/associations
Prepares reports, charts, diagrams, and statistics for academic and technical areas.
Works with student academic issues on a daily basis
Determines scheduling of courses and recommends implementation of additional courses
Assigns appropriate teaching spaces for all disciplines on campus
Provides leadership for divisional deans in assessing and responding to enrollment trends and issues, including implementation of strategies to improve student access, engagement and success
Participates in activities of faculty committees
Develops and manages the academic budget for the campus under the direction of the Campus President
Advises President on academic matters
Serves as liaison officer with accrediting agencies, which evaluate academic programs
Directs curriculum review and development
Leads, supports, and participates in the C&I process
Serves on the Academic Council
May serve as chief administrative officer in absence of President for duties as assigned
Attends the workplace regularly; reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
